Colombia: Economic Indicators vs. Presidents in Tableau Public

I have developed two dashboards in Tableau Public (links below) that show some statistics about Colombia’s economy in the past 40 years:

- Inflation per Year

- Unemployment Rate per Year

- Yearly PIB per Capita

- External Debt

- Evolution of Monthly Minimum Wage

All of these data is publicly available in the Colombia’s Bank of Republic official website (https://www.banrep.gov.co/es/catalogo-estadisticas).

The information was originally not well structured in a relational database, especially for what I wanted to show: evolution of economic indicators per president and political position (left, center or right) yearly.

**Interesting fact: In the last 40 years has been mainly ruled by center or center-right presidents. Even the Liberal Party is not a Left Party, it is mainly center oriented. **

So, I downloaded all the possible information and preprocessed it Microsoft Excel. I created a Calendar Table that would help me join all the different tables, because each economic indicator and president is associated to a date. Thus, the Calendar Table becomes the center of our DB star schema.

I loaded the pre-processed data in Tableau Public Desktop, created the relationships between tables using every date column and then started creating individual line charts to show the variation each economic indicator had through the time.

Look at the dashboards, explore them, and tell me what you think.

External Debt & PIB per Capita vs. Presidents:

Have a great day!
